For some reason, no one talks much about clothes inventions. Inventors do not just create gadgets, but are clothes innovators as well.

Burberry is one of the most recognized fashion brands. The Burberry brand was founded in 1856 by Thomas, a draper's aide, who opened his first store in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. By the late 1800s, Thomas' business was well established, and he had become known for some of his clothing inventions. Thomas had invented a new material he called Gabardine, which was breathable, tear proof, and waterproof. He later created the trench coat, which became very popular amongst the soldiers fighting in the Boer War in Africa. Burberry is presently one of the most recognized names in luxury clothes.
