If you have teeth that are discoloured and stained, then it indicates to others that you do not take enough care for your teeth. Having teeth that are stained is pretty harmless, but if you leave it untreated, it could potentially lead to some complications, which in the end could mean you have to send a great deal of money as a result of repeated visits to your local dentist. For this reason, it may be best practice for you to consider whitening your teeth at the first sign of discolouration.

The importance of having teeth that are bright white cannot be overstated. The increase in popularity is testimony to the reality that more people nowadays care about the appearance of their teeth. You can get by with teeth that are stained and yellow, but you’re likely not to receive the kind of attention that you really want. Fortunately, teeth whitening today have been made more simple and affordable, allowing almost anyone to partake in it. However, there are a number of myths associated with it that must be dispelled.

1. Your teeth can be permanently whitened: This is not true; there isn’t a single whitening procedure that is capable of doing that. You will need to regularly administer the treatment in order to maintain your teeth’s whiteness.

2. Teeth whitening causes permanent damage to your teeth: This is somewhat true, the bleaching agent used in the whitening procedure reacts to the stains on your teeth oxidizing them. If you keep the whitening gel in contact with your teeth for over the designated time, then there’s a chance that it will do permanent damage to your teeth’s enamel.

3. Whitening toothpaste is capable of doing the trick: This is untrue; whitening toothpaste is only capable of removing stains that exist on your teeth’s surface. They cannot reach the stains deep inside your teeth.
