Searching through the internet for information on whitening your teeth can lead to you receiving a lot of bad advice which could have an adverse impact on you. There are a number of myths associated with getting your teeth whitened, so it’s important that you are aware of them. I will talk about several of these myths in this article.

1. Laser whitening treatment is significantly better than home whitening

This is an untruth that may even be told to you by a dentist, and it’s not surprising once you know why. A home whitening product will cost you significantly less than a professional in-office whitening procedure. Sure, using the in-office whitening procedure will get you the results much faster, but you are likely to achieve the same kind of results with a home whitening kit, only it will take you a little longer.

2. You can use lemons and strawberries to whiten your teeth

This myth is true, but it can also be a little misleading. It’s true that you can use lemons and strawberries to whiten your teeth, but they erode your teeth’s enamel in order to achieve it. The end result is permanent damage to your teeth if you decide to use this method to whiten your teeth.

3. All the home whitening kits are equally the same

This one is definitely untrue. The different kits that you find on the market will all give you different results, based on the amount of peroxide it has in it. The higher concentration of peroxide, the more effective the product is likely to be.

4. Teeth whitening kits damage both your teeth and gums

This is untrue. Using home teeth whitening kits will not damage your teeth or your gums, although it is capable of increasing your teeth’s sensitivity for a few days. Once you cease using the whitening kit, the sensitivity should go right away. These whitening kits use an oxidising method to eliminate the stains on your teeth.
