Many people who buy a property will do so because they like the house itself. A lot of people will be delighted with a larger house with a more spacious garden than they would get near a village, town or city. Such people are often very concerned about the size of their house, and are driven by the idea that larger is better, regardless of any other considerations. They will like the idea of a large house with more rooms and more space in general, together with a more spacious garden and driveway. Such people are likely to be unhappy living in a house that they perceive to be too small, and will buy a property that is larger, whatever the consequences for other areas of their lives, or the lives of their family members.

Other people will buy a property because it has character and is out of the ordinary. The residential property may be a converted lighthouse or windmill, for example. Such people will often enjoy the sense of individuality that residential properties like these confer on their owner, or the people who live in the properties even if they do not own it. Such a residential property will be a talking point in the local area and people will be interested to know who has moved into the property, as it is likely to be someone interesting like a celebrity or a successful business person, or a member of the landed gentry who has perhaps inherited money. It could also be an ordinary person who has a flamboyant personality and likes to be noticed for the style of the home that they live in.

But the actual house should be only one consideration when you buy a property. If you view the house in isolation, you may encounter pitfalls along the way. People who want to buy a place should consider the location of the property. The location of a property is important for a number of reasons. If you have a family, you should consider the needs of all members of the family when you buy a property. For example the head of the family may be a man with a company car. Such a person may not think that the nearness of rail stations is important. For this reason they may buy a property that is not close to a rail station.

But this could cause problems for other members of the family who do not have a car, such as teenagers who want to get out and about. If they want to go out, being far from a rail station can cause problems. It could also cause problems for people wishing to visit the family home. Many such people may not have a car and would need to rely on public transport to get to the house. So if the house is in a remote location, the difficulty of getting there and back to their own homes will tend to put people off from visiting.
