If you and your family love shopping Birmingham really is a city to consider as it really has some of the best retail outlets in the country. Slap bang in the middle of the UK the city is incredibly easy to as it is also at the centre of motorway and rail networks. Birmingham is also one of the few cities that has an International airport located nearby which has brilliant bus and rail links. Birmingham International airport is serviced by most of the major European airlines which means getting here from continental Europe is relatively easy. And with the fantastic shops Birmingham should be high on your list of cities to visit.

Visitors to the UK will certainly find the shops in Birmingham only second best to those offered in London. Whatever shopping you like best you can rest assured that the city will satisfy your needs. The city is simply chock a block full of various shopping complexes, home to several large department stores, and of course many independent shops Birmingham is famous for. The city itself is very easy to walk around as much of it is traffic free. This in itself makes Birmingham one of the more enjoyable and hassle free cities to visit.

Things were very different in the past though, and not too long ago to be honest. Once upon a time Birmingham was high on the list of cities not to even consider visiting in the UK. That was before all the city regeneration happened. For over 10 years most parts of the city centre seemed to be ripped down and leveled. If you have not visited this city in many years then you are going to have one major surprise when you eventually do. It does not just stop at the shops in Birmingham either. Few places in the UK can beat the nightlife and dining out too.

The Bullring Centre is probably one of the places people first venture into and houses many of the shops in Birmingham. The great thing about this complex is it is slap bang in the middle of the city and is only a few minutes walk away from New Street station. Be prepared for the myriad of shops Birmingham has managed to squeeze into this wonderfully designed and sprawling shopping complex. And of course do not forget to visit the wonderful Selfridges department store and view it from inside and outside. The store itself looks like some kind of spaceship because of its unusual shape and covering of metallic disks.

Keep in mind that the Bullring is just one place for great shops in Birmingham. Many of the city residents frequent other shopping areas that offer equally exciting shopping experiences. One of these is the Square Shopping centre which is literally about a five minute walk from the Bullring. If you think you would prefer to spend some time with some independent alternative shops in Birmingham the make sure you do not miss out on the Square. In the Square you will come across the fabulous (and sometimes outrageous) Oasis fashion shops Birmingham visitors have been delighted by for many years.
Author Resource:- When shopping Birmingham city centre visitors should check out the Square Shopping Centre. The Square shops in Birmingham have a great range of well known stores and fabulous independent retailers.
