India is a nation that is very rich in customs and traditions. An Indian wedding is a great example of the many rituals and customs that are so prevalent in their society. These weddings are celebrated with a lot of fun and vigour, which would be the most accurate way of describing the ceremony. India has experienced a great deal of change over the years, but the wedding traditions have remained the same with lots of dedication and enjoyment. Indian weddings are naturally colourful, while India itself has become a prime location for non resident Indians to get married.

In India you will find that there are a number of customs and rituals that manifest themselves beautifully during wedding day. In many cases these traditions are influenced by customs of a particular region in the country; your typical wedding may last anywhere from a week to several weeks. The many rituals may be divided into three categories: 1) post wedding rituals 2) Pre-wedding 2) wedding day. You will find that these rituals are observed in the same manner all over India. One of the most important rituals is the engagement ceremony. You will also find that many pre-wedding rituals are celebrated all throughout the country.

The wedding day is the most important day that is celebrated. All the many relatives, family members and friends are set on making it a day that no one will ever forget. In fact, the wedding procession is filled with fun and laughter. On the wedding day, the couples are to purchase wedding rings and then give them to one another as part of the ceremony. The wedding tradition is without a doubt, the most enjoyable and important ceremony practiced across the country.
