We are first conditioned by our parents, relatives and other well meaning people. A lot of these suggestions are beneficial to us, such as stay away from that, it is hot;do not eat that it will make you sick; or you may want to do that differently. Good advice and many helpful ideas. However, if we carry a lot of this advice through to adulthood it is no longer appropriate.

Many parents will put their fears upon their children. Such things as the fear of drowning by going into water, fear of dogs and many other animals. These, though are only the tip of the iceberg. There are the relationship areas as well to be aware of. This will include such sayings as, 'Men only love one thing,' or 'All women ever want is your money.'

Our parents are our first teachers and for survival reasons we need to take notice of them. Pretty basic stuff and that is the way it is. Without looking at our beliefs with a fine toothed comb we will not be aware of the limitations that we carry with us. These will be in the form of beliefs, expectations or attitudes to many areas such as money, relationships and the world in general.

These beliefs will not only affect our general reality, but our health and prosperity as well. An example of this can be found within the modality of Emotional Freedom Technique. The practitioner may uncover a pattern. This pattern is one where the client experiences many allergies. What therapists have found is that the patient has an underlying belief that the world is an unsafe place for them. If one watches the TV news or reads the paper then you could easily take on the belief that the world is not a safe place. The reason however here is that the news is spoon fed to us to highlight the sensational and disastrous and fearful. A lot of people have a great appetite for information presented in this way.

So, what do we do about our limiting beliefs? We all know people whom we would not judge as more intelligent, beautiful or handsome than us and yet they seem to have great ease in their lives. We know others who are in the same profession or job and they seem to be far in advance of us in getting ahead. It does not seem matter what neighborhood they live in in either, so it is not their location that makes the difference. Then what is it?

The first step is to become aware of what is going on in your life and patterns of experience that repeat themselves. Some of these may be in the realm of money such as emulating one or both of your parents belief systems and behaviors towards money. Begin by becoming aware of patterns in your life and the life of your parents.

There are many books to read on this subject and courses to experience, to assist in bringing patterns to the fore. There is much to be said for gathering with others in a group situation with the intent of working through these issues. You will find there will be much triggering and heightening of awareness. This will give you more choices for inner growth.

once you begin this journey you will find that it is never ending throughout your life. You will notice, without judgment, people who just want to stay and operate in their comfort zone. You will be aware that this is not your path as you are choosing a path of expansion and growth of an inward nature. This usually takes greater courage and determination than an outer journey, and can be ever so much more rewarding.

Take care and enjoy!
