There are different types of cameras for the use of the professionals and the common man. Also, there are cameras used by the satellites to peep into the universe and also to take images of our own planet. The technology is different and so is the purpose of their use in different situations. The one thing that matters the most in creating these differences is the resolution powers of these cameras. The resolution of the astronomic or satellite cameras is vastly superior to the video cameras in the hands of common man.

The resolution power of the cameras is defined as the ability to clearly distinguish between the two objects. The clearer the distinguishing ability of the camera between the two objects kept as close as possible, the better is the resolution. If a camera is able to capture the two objects kept 1 meter with good clarity, then its resolution, defined in terms of the distance between the two objects, is one meter. If these are kept closer still, say at 500cm and the camera is able to distinguish clearly, then the resolution is even better at 500 cms. This resolution power of the video cameras is defined in terms of megapixels. The improvements in resolutions power have been a forte of the digital age of technology.

If you have gone to buy any of the latest TV sets in the market, you would have been told of the high-definition features of the TV. This HD LCDTV is also related to the high resolution. A full HD LCD TV or a computer monitor would be able to give you the resolution of the 2-3 MP camera. So, you shall not think that attaching the video cameras of higher MP levels would be able to give you better quality picture. So, buying decision for the same shall not depend only on this consideration of the relation between the HD TV and the cameras. A Panasonic LCD TV makes use of the liquid crystal display technology for backlighting purposes whereas its LED TV would be using the light emitting diodes for the backlighting.

The professional digital cameras are the single reflex cameras, or the SLR camera in short. In these cameras the single lens is the view finder as well as used for capturing the image. These are not easy to be used by the common man since there are less automatic controls than the other cameras which are meant for common man’s use. A professional photographer still prefers the digital SLR camera which gives him or her more room to use their skills in taking the shots and also gives more satisfaction than using the one with all functions in-built and used automatically without much room for manoeuvre.

The video cameras, called camcorders, can also record your high definition videos on the disc which you can see on different media. These enable direct storage into the medium without requiring its transfer to the computer first.
