Within the Philippine setting, a magic show is sometimes the most attraction during the annual fiesta celebration.
Magic Show - My 1st Encounter
It had been already customary for every June 18-nineteen town fiesta in Socorro, Bucas Grande, Island, Surigao del Norte, Philippines that a one-week magic show would be held inside an interior huge tent structure surrounded by makeshift fences in a very corner of the city square. Such show was continually welcome as a prospect from the usual island lifetime of the inhabitants.
It had been fiesta time in 1973, simply once I was enrolled in Grade 2, that my father told me that the 2 people would watch the magic show.
As a 1st time magic show spectator, I was amazed with the changing of a handkerchief's color while in the hand of the magician. Moreover, I used to be thrilled in the middle portion of the magic show when the magician had performed magic tricks that took longer to reach their conclusions like, among others, the swallowing of a sword in the magician's mouth.
Magic Show - My Most Horrifying Moment

The magician had announced that he would drive her woman assistant's spirit out of her body, and resurrect her from the dead. Afterwards, he uttered strange words and the woman fall into the stage unconscious. Then, 2 sword-carrying male assistants had appeared from the stage and planted the weapon's handle firmly on the ground with the sharp-pointed portion pointing upwards. Subsequently, the magician lifted his magic wand and therefore the assistant's body had floated in the air till it positioned on prime of the swords' sharp-pointed tips. The immobile body remained in that position for pretty much half an hour while a dance range was being performed. Subsequently, the magician announced that he would perform the ultimate magic trick of the magic show- that of resurrecting her dead assistant back to life.
For the second time, the magician lifted his magic wand followed by the floating of the immobile body into a bench. Being positioned at the primary row of spectators, my eyes were glued on the face of the seemingly dead lady whether or not there was sign of life however I had observed none. Her eyes were firmly closed whereas the lips were white as cotton. The magician then repeatedly uttered strange words and lifted his magic wand however alas! the woman was still dead. My fright then had sent shivers down my spine.
True had prompted the magician to plead: "Sir, I recognize that you are around, please spare the life of my assistant. With my timeless salute to your magical powers, please remove the anti-magic arcane material that you simply planted within the vicinity" Afterwards, the magic show workers were on the state of panic as they took turns in trying to revive the girl assistant's life however to no avail. The drama lasted for 2 hours, more or less. It had been solely once the delivery of another plea by the teary-eyed magician that the girl assistant's eyes went open and signs of life went back to traditional without the aid of the magic wand.
