A few simple precautions to decrease your personal Carbon Footprint, improve your gas consumption and do your part in saving our planet.

Bad driving and CO2 emissions are directly proportional. The worst you drive the more you pollute! Your efforts might slightly affect you directly and you probably won't notice any difference, except for your gas consumption. But we can't think like that. What if we all do it? Bad driving is a worldwide issue. There are millions of cars in the world and the percentage of "green" drivers is really, really low. So read these tips, apply them, tell a friend or two and if you see someone keeping their engine running for the wrong reasons, at a railroad crossing for example, kindly ask them to turn it off!

After starting the engine it is advisable to start moving immediately and slowly, avoiding running the engine at high rpms. Do not warm up the engine without moving drive normally, neither at low nor at high rpms as these conditions cause the engine to warm up slower thus increasing fuel consumption, emissions and wear of mechanical parts.

Avoid unnecessary throttle movements such as when you are sitting at a light or before turning off the engine. This only increases pollution and increases gas mileage.

Turn off the engine during stops.

Gear selection ( for manual transmissions ): shift as soon as possible to the highest gear ( considering the correct operation of the engine and traffic conditions) without pushing the engine at high rpms. Use of low gears and high rpms to be quick results in a significant increase in miles per gallon, CO2 emissions and engine wear.

Speed of the vehicle: fuel consumption increases exponentially with increasing speed. It is therefore necessary to maintain a moderate speed and more uniform as possible, avoiding unnecessary braking and acceleration. Maintaining an appropriate safety distance safety from other vehicles helps keeping a regular traffic flow.

Acceleration: violent acceleration significantly penalizes consumption and emissions. We suggest, therefore, if driving conditions allow for it, to accelerate gradually.
