Most estate agents these days will have a high quality website with many pages. They use their website to describe their specific residential property services and to advertise the types of residential property that they have to offer. Such residential property websites will help the company promote its services to prospective home buyers and will usually have a searchable database of residential properties that are currently available for viewing and purchase.

One of the benefits to estate agents of having a website is that people can see properties available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Prospective home-buyers therefore do not have to visit the estate agent during office hours to collect printed particulars. Instead they can view the available apartments, houses and mansions from practically anywhere, as the web can be accessed using smart-phones as well as computers in the home, in educational establishments, in the workplace and in libraries and internet cafes.

Because the online information provided on the available residential properties is able to be accessed by people continuously, it is important that estate agents make sure that they keep their websites up to date. Otherwise there is the possibility of their clients becoming disappointed if a property they are interested in is no longer available, but is still listed on the website. This could result in prospective home-buyers going to competing websites, never to return to the website that disappointed them.

Many websites operated by estate agents enable the users of the website to receive alerts on properties. All the website user has to do is to supply their email address or mobile phone number and then set their preferences. Such preferences could be a price range, a size range for the property, and a geographical range. Then the website will send them alerts at the frequency that the website user selects.

Most websites operated by estate agents will show pictures of the different rooms of the properties, plus the front drive and the back garden, or the grounds of the property if it is larger than the average house. Having images of the rooms is helpful to prospective homebuyers, and means that they do not have to visit the house to see all the details of the rooms inside and the outside areas. Some prospective home-buyers will be particularly interested in the kitchen, for example.

Some websites operated by estate agents will have short movies of properties. These tend to be websites that specialize in more expensive properties like mansions. The fees that the firms earn from the sales enable them to invest in camera crews and movie editing to help market the properties that are on their books. The movies on the website will usually be edited to be short movies that portray a certain part of the house. Some prospective home-buyers will be particularly impressed by having this facility, as it means that they do not have to visit the house to find out whether they would like to purchase it.
