If you are currently having problems deciding on which graphics card to purchase, then you needn't worry as there are hundreds of us facing the same problem. It can be a pretty daunting task comparing the different types of video cards when you consider all the features and different technology used in them. If you want to carry out a thorough card comparison, then you should consider these following points:

PCIe or AGP Slot

The more traditional format was the AGP slot which was one slot integrated onto the motherboard. It was the standard for a very long time. Since then, the PCIe has joined the market and successfully knocked AGP off the top shelf. The PCIe slot is 4 times faster than the fastest AGP slot and also offers support for multiple video card configurations. For this reason, it's advisable you get a PCIe graphics card.

The Cards Bandwidth

Today the cards bandwidth comes in two major forms GDDR2 and GDDR3. GDDR2 is the more traditional solution that has been used in most graphics cards for the past decade. The main drawback of this format was that it ran at very high temperatures. Because of this obvious problem ATI sought to correct it by developing the GDDR3. This format is much better than its predecessor as it has more bandwidth, runs faster and is able to operate at lower temperatures. Today, most people go for cards with GDDR3, though more expensive, it's well worth the extra costs.

Memory

There are numerous options that are available to you here. 512MB of memory is typically enough to handle all the demanding tasks that you might inflict upon it. So if you have the money, then I recommend you purchase a graphics card with 512MB of memory as it'll help benefit you in the long run.
