Do you ever experience video card errors? Does the computer freeze up suddenly while you're working on it or playing a video game? Does your screen display unusual characters or a blue screen error?

Many people believe that these errors are caused by a bug in the video card. But the problem is actually the device drivers. Many people might argue that they installed the drivers that they received when they purchased the device.

But what many people don't understand is that, the device driver's act as a bridge between the operating system and component. The performance of that specific component is highly dependent on its drivers. If there are any bugs in the device drivers, then it can have an adverse affect on its performance and your overall systems performance. It can also lead to compatibility problems and numerous other errors.

In order to tackle many of the bugs that are present in drivers today, some manufacturers such as ATI and Nvidia launch updates for their device drivers from time to time. The driver updates are usually designed to tackle bugs that were found in the previous driver's release. For increased stability and performance of your graphics card, it's imperative that you regularly update your drivers.

You can find out the brand of your graphics card, whether it's an ATI, Nvidia etc, then log onto the net and visit the website of your video card manufacturer and download their latest drivers. Once you have the drivers, you should install it onto your computer. Your later drivers will replace your older ones automatically. The new drivers are typically designed to erase certain errors and improve the performance of the graphics card.
