Years ago, the market for truck accessories was not very large. But with the explosion of the number of trucks on the highways and streets of the country today, there is an almost endless supply of these items. Depending on your needs or desires, practically anything can now be bought for a truck. This includes radios, pin striping and customized front and rear bumpers. Want push bars to prevent dents and scratches on your existing bumpers? How about skid plates to shield the under carriage from rocks and debris? There’s nothing preventing you from installing an air horn or buying a windshield cover or sunshade for your truck, is there?

Decisions as to what to buy in the way of truck accessories can be limited only by the imagination. A billet grill can dress up the exterior of any truck. Grab handles add a unique accent to a truck and also serve a useful purpose in allowing something to grab onto when entering or exiting the vehicle. We’ve all seen the elegance and beauty that rocker panels add to a truck. And chrome accessories that are placed around door handles, truck body, windshield and window pillars make just about any truck stand out in a crowd.

For the more serious enthusiast, truck accessories can encompass a carbon fiber hood. This accessory instantly says customization. Hoods and vents not present on OE adorn these after market items, quietly asserting a high performance look to passersby. An added feature is a significant reduction in weight, meaning more get up and go power for the truck’s engine. Add sun visors, fender flares, running boards and a wind shield and a truck can present a unique, customized appearance. An owner can be proud to drive his or her one of a kind truck to work, parties or off-road events.

Protecting the investment one makes in a truck can be a soft, easy on the paint job cover that can be used in a garage or outdoors. These covers not only keep the elements off the truck but also can shield it from dust, sticks and the occasional errant baseball that a young lad may throw its way in his pursuit of fun.

Not to be forgotten are those who use their trucks for work. A full array of add-ons is ready for this buying segment, also. Probably at the top of the list in demand for this group of truck owners are tool boxes. Optional designs include a single lid model, boxes that go over the wheel wells, topside boxes that are attached to the side of the truck, tongue boxes attaching to the back of the truck and boxes that have drawers storing parts. Closely following the tool boxes are steps in popularity. These can consist of single steps used to enter the truck to side pads, running the length of the door opening and thereby affording maximum usability for this type of accessory. There is also a variation of a work step that folds in and out in conjunction with the operation of the door.

When in the market to purchase truck accessories, look for a vendor or dealer that is reputable. Also important is their ability to answer any and all questions you might have about your pending purchase. A good question to pose is whether or not the item you want comes with a guarantee. The decision to buy or not buy is a personal one, but being a wise consumer can ease any misgivings you may have before laying out your hard earned cash.
