I'm thinking these thoughts because I simply browse a commentary known as Adrenaline Nation in the April 2006 Outside magazine regarding the insufficient town of Fayettville, West Virginia. It seems to me that this small town has more opportunities for journey vacations than any alternative area of the U.S. (I welcome any disagreement to this point as your feedback will most likely offer me alternative places to test out).
For example:
" Whitewater. There are several Category III and IV rapids open all Spring and Summer within the area. And in September and October, the Summerville Dam opens to create Category V+ rapids for those of you with stomachs of steel.
" You'll also take Kayaking categories offered by North Yank River Runners on the New River. Beginners will learn on tamer sections of the river, while advanced kayakers canget wet (very wet) in currents and also the Class III rapids.
" Mountain Biking for those of you who prefer to remain dry (but don't mind getting muddy, cut and scraped) The Fayettville Path stretches 2.8 miles from town, while another trail known as the Cunard-Kaymoor Path is 7 miles and takes you round the Summerville Lake.
" Rockclimbing. For the seriously brain damaged among you, the locals call it merely, "the Discombobulated." I can not help but suppose that's what happens to you if you fall off this 511 foot sheer sandstone wall that rises on top of the New River Gorge. I hear the read is awesome if you ever create it to the top.
" But when the day is finished, you will need to eat. Outside magazine recommends Smokey's On the Gorge, an area known for its gormet buffet with wild boar ribs and a spectacular view of the New River Gorge.
