What, then, does it mean to be a spiritual person?
Being a non secular person is synonymous with being a person whose highest priority is to be loving to oneself and others. A non secular person cares concerning people, animals, and therefore the planet. A non secular person knows that we tend to are all one, and consciously tries to honor this oneness. A non secular person may be a kind person.

That was the last time I attended the religious group. The main target of the group was surrender to God, however love was rarely in the picture! My expertise of God is that God is that the energy of Love that created us and sustains us. In my experience, "God is Spirit" (John four:24) and "God is love" (one John 4:sixteen). Something that's not of affection, peace, joy, truth and kindness is not of God. Praying to God does not mean that you are allowing the spirit that's God - the love, peace, joy, truth and kindness that is God - to guide your thoughts and actions. Practicing yoga or meditating does not mean that you have invited the love that's God into your heart, or that you are turning to that ever-gift love to learn regarding what is in your highest sensible, and the very best sensible of others and the planet.
If you wish to be a non secular person, then let kindness be your guiding light - kindness toward yourself, toward others, toward animals, and toward this lovely planet that is our home. Acknowledge that we tend to all have the spark of affection that is God inside us, and learn to honor that love therefore that you can recognize and expertise the Oneness of all that is.
