Concern breeds:
? Doubt
? Limiting beliefs
? Procrastination and inactivity
? Poor self esteem
? An inability to commit to your goals
? And an inability to push past your 1st goal, even after you have achieved it.
Let me make a case for:
I recognize a author, we have a tendency to'll decision her Amy. Amy has written five full length manuscripts. When she 1st started off, she was gung ho! Wrote her first romance novel and submitted it to agents. Rejection came fast however it had been positive rejection. At now, Amy didn't have any writing and publishing goals however these heat rejections motivated her to set a goal of "obtaining an agent."
Needless to say, once you set a goal and pursue it with all of your intention and action, you achieve it. She got an agent, after all she had interest from 3 high agents all at the same time. But, because her goal was to induce an agent and she or he didn't look beyond that goal, the agent was the highlight. She did not have a plan for publishing, for creating a platform or for promoting herself. Why? Fear of success and a restricted scope.
What happened?
Amy's agent didn't sell her book...
Amy's back to face one with a drawer full of completed manuscripts and no confidence to set another goal. She's letting her worry stop her.
What's The Difference Between Amy And You?
If you wish to publish and make a living writing romance, you would like to set goals that encompass your dreams and take action to form it happen. You can not let fear get in your way.
How does one live through your fear? For writers, this is tough. We tend to can be a sensitive bunch. Here's what I would suggest Amy do:
1 Set bigger, long-term goals.
2 Break them down into smaller steps that are straightforward to accomplish, keeping the large picture in mind. These goals would be goals like attending workshops, visiting conferences and pitching to agents and editors, continuing to meet up with publishers and agents and word count goals. Achievable goals embrace submitting one manuscript to 1 agent/publisher each month. Writing 5000 words every week and thus on. Establishing smaller goals that are easily achieved helps you develop a pattern of success - that builds confidence.
3 Notice a critique group.
four Get involved in the romance writing industry. Be part of an RWA chapter or native writing group and get involved. That way you'll learn and share with others in the identical boat you are in.
five Continue learning the craft and also the industry. Take a course!
Concern could be a natural half of life but unless your life is on the line, it is a worthless emotion. Shove it aside, and get to the business of achieving your dreams.
Can You Really Create a Living Writing Romance? The short answer is yes, with a bit of passion, diligence and an understanding of the romance trade and what it takes to craft a book, you fully can make a living writing romance!
