It extremely isn't as exhausting as you'll think. You see, the human mind is like a pinata, when it breaks open, there are ton's of surprises in side.
Once you get the pinata perspective you'll see that losing your mind may be a peak experience.
So, you lose your mind, you do not care anymore. You've either lost your job or you are concerning to lose your job, you spouse has left you, the kids hate you - and you think that, "Yeah, I can do comedy."
Now, one advantage to losing you mind is that this - you begin to look at things differently. Currently you see the humor that is all around you. You see the irony in all of it. You see funny. (It's a red nose, big red lips....)
Therefore you begin to write all the funny down in the little notebook that you obtain from Wal-Mart, the shop that ruined America. The notes become bits, three bits build a routine. Concerning two-hundred-fifty of them will build you a thirty-minute set. Thus start writing now.
You attend the local comedy club or comedy night at the native bar and you are attempting out your stuff. If it works you end up on the road. You ask alternative comics you meet questions concerning 'how they did it.'
Ten years later you're still within the business asking yourself, why did I do this? Am I crazy? The answer after all is - yes you are.
Do not get me wrong, comedy could be a wonderful business. It has allowed me to travel everywhere North America at no cost and build unbelievable cash doing it - and I solely work one hour a night.
However you stay in the business, you get work, you progress up the ladder from MC to feature to headliner back to feature, working 0.5 the clubs you started with as a result of of the "changing world in which we tend to live in..." (Paul McCartney)
You still have the burning desire you've acquired to do comedy, so you begin wanting for cruise ships and resorts - the corporate market - why - as a result of that's where the money is - corporate. They pay massive bucks for entertainment at their conventions and little events, massive bucks. $three,000 for an hour's worth of entertainment. And that's the low end. The guys at the opposite finish are creating between $10,000 to twenty five,000 and up.
That's a lot of cash for one thing you love. As a speaker you have changed your act from straight stand-up to adding a message and using your humor to induce it across.
Now you're obtaining more work for higher money. You are working Chambers of Commerce, Associations, native events and conferences and you're still creating nice money. It's nearly that easy. If you have perpetually needed to do stand-up, you and solely you'll be able to make the decision to urge off the couch and try.
The spotlight is what separated the lads from the boys. If you survive the spotlight, you can be a professional standup comedian. Therefore, try it. You are not obtaining any younger. I used to be thirty-3 years old when I first got into comedy. And that was considered means late for this business.
I am simply saying, if this is what you would like to do together with your life then just do it. The only factor that is keeping you from it is a four letter word referred to as - "FEAR". Live through the worry and you can - and - can accomplish your life-long dreams. Doing comedy was mine and I've got made a living at being funny for a lot of than twenty-years. What a nice gig. However it all starts with losing your mind.
