The violin, often known as the fiddle, is a string instrument just like the viola and cello, but smaller in size. It has four strings made of various materials. Today, violins are mostly made from steel or nylon steel composites. However in the past, violin strings were originally made from gut. The four strings of the violin produce a sound whenever they are drawn by a bow. They can even be plucked by the violinist.

The violin is an excellent instrument to learn since it is classic and not as common as say, the piano. People always look at violinist with admiration as a result of great talent needed to play the violin well. If you want becoming a violinist, the first task is always to purchase a violin for yourself.

There are many violin makers and manufacturers today who offer their instruments at competitive prices. This makes it harder for novice players determine which particular brand to purchase if they are starting out with their lessons. If you are in the beginning stages with learning how to play the violin, it could be smart to first choose an affordable brand, because you might be unable to continue playing and will just end up getting an unused instrument.

Concurrently, it is important even when you are starting out, that you get a violin that produces great sound quality, so that you're walking used to hearing yourself play accurately. This is true whether you are an adult taking up lessons or if you are purchasing the instrument for your child.

A good brand to begin with in terms of reasonably priced yet high quality violins is Doreli. Doreli violins are sold in every state and will not cost you an arm and a leg. However, they are trusted by the professionals because of their superior sound quality.
