For some, the World Equestrian Games is more exciting than the Olympics. Every four years, the best from around the world gather to decide who is worthy of the title World Champion. The World Equestrian Games 2010 marks an exciting event for American equestrians and equine enthusiasts. Since the premiere of the World Equestrian games in 1990, the events have been held on the European continent. The World Equestrian Games 2010, however, will be leaving Europe and making its way to Lexington, Kentucky to be held at the famous Kentucky Horse Park. This marks the first return of the World Championships to Kentucky since 1978, following Bruce Davidsons win in Eventing.

The World Equestrians games were first proposed in 1983. Before these games were organized, each of the seven events that now make up the games had separate championships; each of these championships were held at different times and locations, depending on the country of origin of the last winner. The World Equestrian Games, however, is a combining of the seven events. For over two weeks, some 800 competitors come together, representing 57 countries, to claim the title of World Champion in several equestrian events. Previously, there have only been seven events in the games, but 2010 also marks the addition of a new event. Para dressage is now included in the line-up, along with dressage, eventing, jumping, reigning, driving, endurance, and vaulting.

The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington is ready to welcome competitors from across the world with open arms. The venue is large enough to hold over 1,000 horses before adding additional, temporary stables. The Lexington venue is also able to seat up to 30,000 spectators in its outdoor stadium, and recently completed construction on an indoor stadium. The Kentucky Horse Park is ready to welcome the games in late September.

With the 2010 games finding their way to the heart of Kentucky, many equestrians and fans across the country are preparing their most stylish western wear for the event in the Bluegrass State. From simple and durable blue jeans to classy ranch-style shirts and the iconic cowboy hats, classic American western apparel will certainly find its place at the Lexington venue in support of the games. Now, awaiting the arrival of the championships in September, is the perfect time to make sure that your wardrobe is ready for the event. Adding stylish and well-crafted western wear is a great way to get ready for the games, and makes sure that your wardrobe is ready for anything else that life can throw at youfrom a day at work to a night on the town. Of course, if classic western apparel is not quite the style that you have in mind, you can always support the world games by purchasing official Games apparel.
