Everybody - from politicians, businesses, musicians, celebrities and many other groups of individuals - use social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or other social networking outlets to unfold their message, build their businesses and connect with others.
Do they recognize one thing we don't?
Networking, whether online or offline, is a nice use of your time when done properly. As with anywhere you pay it slow, knowing why you're doing it, how you'll measure success and having a set up is the best approach.
With that said, I jumped in with each feet last year with the steerage of a social media knowledgeable, and I have found clients, joint venture partners, speaking engagements and other great connections through numerous social media outlets. I am a member of additional social media retailers than I can count, but I currently target Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Whereas I am not an knowledgeable in social media, here are five reasons to take a while to learn the benefits of social media.
1. There Is No Price
There is no direct price unless you decide for an upgrade, if one is offered. I have not purchased an upgrade and have steadily increased my list to include over 1000 followers between simply 3 social media retailers, and without a lot of effort.
2. Build Your Business by Connecting With Peers
Are you interested by finding joint ventures, affiliates, guest experts or different peers you'll bounce concepts off of? In the last few weeks alone, I have located one large joint venture partner and have had many alternative partnership opportunities cross my desk. Business owners simply like you are using social media to connect with others who are inquisitive about using your articles, hosting you as a guest knowledgeable on teleseminars, webinars and live events, and even creating projects together!
3. Build Your Business by Following Reporters You Are Targeting
Would a writing written by a bound reporter create your year? Follow them on Twitter or Facebook and see what is of interest to them and what they are writing about. You never recognize what golden nugget you'll realize by following them online that will open the door at the correct time. Follow them and invite them to follow you moreover! Or with LinkedIn you'll realize out how many degrees you're from them. You may surprise yourself by being only one or two degrees off from your target!
4. Showcase Your Expertise, Build Your Platform and Attract New Clients
Social media is an attention-grabbing animal. While several individuals use it to extend their businesses, you want to be mindful concerning outright promotions. Generally speaking, heavy selling of your merchandise and services on these sites may be a massive no-no. Here's how I do it. I will post one thing like this: "Just got off the phone with social networking guru Nancy Marmolejo. Currently I'm off to finish writing my sales page for the Business Breakthrough Series." Folks who are intrigued will check you out and could end up deciding to follow you and ... bingo! They need simply entered your world!
5. Reach Large Audiences
The world is your oyster in social media. There are only a few businesses that are truly limited by geographic boundaries, particularly if you're in the data promoting business. Being active on social networking sites eliminates geographic boundaries and permits you to succeed in an unlimited range of folks from everywhere the world. If you have got merchandise and services that may be purchased by anyone in the world, being active in social media is an absolute must for you. I recently held a teleseminar with individuals from over ten countries in attendance, all from the comfort of my home office! And my sweat pants!
So, is social media value the time? It depends. Social media is completely the wave of the future, and you will want to know something regarding it as some point. However, whether you're employed it into your plan for 2009 depends on your goals. If you have got a goal of increasing your reach to prospects either regionally or internationally, you'll try this quite effectively through social media. But, if you'll cannot and can not attempt to learning a way to "tweet" on Twitter or communicate on Facebook or use your connections on LinkedIn, it will not be value your time.
My advice to shoppers once they are just beginning out is to pick one social media outlet, whether or not it's Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter, and master it before jumping into every outlet possible. You clearly would like to schedule time for connecting, thus choose the social networking shops that will benefit you the most.
Now that I am experiencing the monetary results of my on-line efforts, I perceive why this is such a great use of my time and I'm hooked!
