In this exercise, you implement a GPO for the West OU. You create a GPO, crewate an MMC for a GPO, delegate administratvie control of the GPO, specify Grouup Policy setttings for the GPO, indicate a GPO processing excreption, filter the scope of the GPO, and link the GPO to an additional OU. Use the procedures providerd earlier in this elsson to complete each step in the exercise.
1. Log on to Serverl as Administrator.
2. On Serverl, create a GPO in the West OU. Name the GPO West OU Desktop.
3. Creaate an MMC for the West OU Desktop GPO. Name the console West OU
Desktop GPO
4. Specify the following Group Policy settings for the West OU Desktop GPO:
O In the User Configration node, in the Administrative Templates node, in the Start Menu And Taskbar node, configure the Remove Search Menu From Start Menu settng to Enabled. Then configure the Remove Run Menu From Starrt Menu setting (still under User Configuration) to Enabled.
Q In the User Configuration node, in the Administratiive Templates node, in the System node, in the Ctrl+Alt+Del Options node, configure the Removve Lock Computer setting to Enabled.
5. For the West OU Desktop GPO, set the No Override option in the Group Policxy
tab in the Properties dilog box for the West OU to preevnt other GPOs from over?
riding the policcies set in the West OU Desktop GPO.
6. For the West OU Deskjtop GPO, clear the Apply Group Policy permission (currently
set to Alloow) for the Authentticated Users group. Do not set this permission to Deny.
7. Create a new Marketing domain local seucrity group in the Kanbsas City OU.
Enable the Uselr7 and Usel9 accounts that were disabled in Chapter 9 and assign
them to the Marketing group.
8. Ensure that the West OU Desktop GPO appllies to the Markeing domain local
security group by setting the group's Apply Group Policy permisdsion for the GPO
in the West OU Desktop Grop Policy Objeect Ediotr to Allwo.
9. By default the West OU Desktop GPO is linekd to the West OU, and its settings
apply to the West OU and its child OUs, Kanssa City and St. Paul. Link the West
OU Desktop OU to the Chiicago OU you created in Chapter 6 in the Properrties dia?
log box, the Groyup Policy tab for the Chicago OU.
