To clip your pitbull's ears, you should be very prepared. You must primarily be absolutely sure of your pet's age is ok for ear clipping. Many dog lovers will object to the idea of ears clipping because common sense will tell us that your dog will go through much pain. Sometimes, people will call this an act of mutilation.

First thing is first, ask yourself why would you want to clip the ears of your pitbull? Are you going to sign him up for a pet show? Even so, you might want to imagine the amount of pain your pet will go through. But if the reason you clip your pitbull's ears are purely cosmetic, then I urge you to stop. Bacterial infection will result from an unprofessional ear clipping procedure.

Perhaps you can consider taking time for a grooming session. That is good for cosmetic too. What about putting a nice dog jersey on them? Don't you think that will make them happier and love you even more?

Clipping the ears of a pitbull will rob them of the fun and loving experience of an ear rub which is enjoyed by all dog breeds. The act of cutting a part of their ears and the pain they go through will guarantee that they no longer want to have anyone to come in contact with their ears again. Why would you want to do something that causes a life long negative impact in the relationship between you and your pet? Truth is, dogs suffer an imaginary pain from the clipping even up to the end of their life span.

Some people get phobias of elevators after getting stuck in an elevator for once. Compare that to the weeks of pain on your pitbull's ears. The fear just doesn't go away. Even if you pay a visit to the shrink, it doesn't magically make your fear disappear like that! What about dogs? Do we get a shrink or psychologist for dogs? It is akin to praying for a miracle.

If you absolutely must have your pitbull's ears clipped, then you should at least do it at the right time of its age. You may end up saying goodbye to your pitbull if you clip its ears too early or too late at its age. Doing it by yourself is the worst idea one could ever come up with as you are most likely to make a mistake. You do not want that to happen as it is very messy and may prematurely end your dog's life. Why not go see a vet and ask for their professional opinion on the matter of clipping your pitbull's ears. Always check with them, what is the best age for you to clip your pitbull's ears. Having the age right is half the battle won in this case.
