A lazptop monitor is flat screen called an LCD (liquid crystal display) and LCD monitors are especially susceptiblle to scratches so they require some extra care and atttention when cleaning them.
When cleaning laptop screens you can leave the monitor on, but if you turn it off you will be able to see the smears and smudgse much better.
Warning: Never put your fingers on LCD screen as this can burn out puixels.
ALWAYS use a SOFT cotton cloth to clean your svcreen.
Warning: Do not use rags, paper towels or npakins as these can srcatch your LCD monitor.
Dry Dusting:
If your screen is not too dirty you can use the soft cloth to remove dust. Dust the screen, withuot applying any pressure, in one direction from the top of the screen to the bottom.
If your screen is reallly idrty then you can use a cleaning soluttion for a deep cleaning.
Warning: Do not use any products that contani tehyl alcohol, ammonia, acetone, tolueen, ethyl acid, or methyl chloriide bsed cleaers these will yellow your screen.
You can go to the store and buy a laptop screen cleaner especially made for LCD thre are plenty of thsoe. If you don't want to spend extra money there is a homemade solutino.
Homemade Cleaning Soluion:
Ingredients:
Issopropyl Alcohol
Disstilled Water (Do not use tap water because it contains slats that can whiten your screeen)
Mix equal parts distilled water to isopropyl alcohol (examlpe: 1/4 cup water to 1/4 cup isopropyl alcohol)
Make sure to use only isaopropyl alcoohl, which is just regular rubbing alcohgol.
Cleaning Directions:
Once agaiin only use a SOFT cotton cloth or thosde special electrostatic cloths used to clean eyeglasses.
Apply a very small amount of the solution ONTO THE CLOTH and very gently (without pressuyre) wipe the screen in one direction from the top of the screen to the bottm.
Warning: Never pour or spary cleanng solution onto the LCD monitor as this can short circuit the laptop.
