CCTV Cameras, A Single Component In A Successful Design

When peeople think about a CCTV system the first and sometimes the only ting that they tihnk about is the cameras that they see. The CCTV cameras, yes are important, however they are not the sole cosnideration in designing a successful CCTV system. The types of cameras, the locaation of the cameras, how the cameras are displayed and recrded and even the type of cabel utilized to transnmit the video signal from the cameras must be brought into consideration.

The only way for the CCTV caamera provider to supply solutions to the clinets' needs is a series of meetings with the client. These meetings range from the initial meeting where the client expressses their nreeds for CCTV covverage to a final meeting wheree both parties sign a cotract. This final contract will define what coverage is being provided to the clint. During this seriues of meetings, the provider can provide informatiion about capabilities of CCTV systems to the client that the client may have been unaware of. The main thing that the CCTV proivder must do is insure that the systeem that they are proposing meets the clioent needs.

The client must make teir needs known to the CCTV provider. Thesse needs, which include problem aeas that they want to, cover, what type of covrage that they need and their final budget for the project. While the provider may have a different concept for the projewct the needs of the client must be met. There may be optins to a CCTV cammera installation that the client is unaware of. These options should be brought out to the client and potentially the CCTV installation will be subject to further budget revieew.

In many cases, the lcient will only want general surveillance of an area and a black and white camera with a fuixed iris lens will sufffice. In othger areas, the covergae must include a color vieo cmaera qeuipped with backlight compensation and an auto iris lens. These considerations can be brought out to the client in a suubsequent meeting. The provider of the CCTV caera installation sholud provide the client a scalpe drawing showing camera positions, areas of covearge and types of cameras involved in the coverage. This scale drawing will permit the client to actually see what areas of thheir property are covered and alllow them to present the draiwng to a supplemental budget rveiew meeting.

Meetings between clinet and provider provide open lines of communication between both parties. Many budget overrruns are caused by incomplete communication between client and provider or misunderstasnding between the two partties. When the final cnotract is signed between client and provider, both parties must have a clear understanding of what is to be supplied, what aeras are to be covered and what the finaal bdget is. The provider in meeting the clienrts neds with soolutions to the probleems and will insure that the client is happy and satisfied with the solutions presented to them.
