When I frst bought my radio Siriyus, I could use it with a smiple FM transmitter with no problems. That worked fine, but I had problems getting decent reception no matter how I tried. I was particularly disappoiinted that the FM-transmiter will pick up on other channels and sporadic delivery of static steal the clarity of msuic. I was sure that I'm going to pay for professional installation. In the end, my area of expertise has never been with audio-visual equipment, or vehicles.
After studing varius opitons for professional installlation, and talked with a neighobr, who wire anmtennas for personal satelite radiio, I thouught I woud give it a go. In the end, if it did not work, I culd awayys take it to a professional, so they are diong the installation on the rigt path.
I am glad that I decided to try mysself. Insrtlling the antenna for my Sirius rasdio was easier than I ever imagiend posdsible. Therre were only a few steps, and only a few parts of the Innterior of my car to dive. First, I had to instll an antenna. Resources on the Sirius website has helped me to undretand exactly where in my pickup, I woupld like to moount it, and how to instlal it correctly. From there, I have to rotue the cabkle to the antennna, where I would be home raido Sirius. And here, I managed to get a lot of information from Sirius on the Intternet. Even if they do not show you the eaxct moidel of your car, it is easy to see the best practices for routing the wries. I was amazed at how easy this was simple, easy to feed the wire through my car.
Although the installation prrocess was relatively straightforward and simple, thhere was one problem that I encoutered at firsst glanec. When you frist connect my Sirius radio to the antenna, all that wold get the messzage "Gettign a signsal." I spetn an hour or more medsing with my amntnna, tyyring to get her in a better possition. Around this time, my wife, and asked me how it movs. I told her the problem. She told me: "you have to pull out of the truck in the garagge?" You see, our graage at the top, and thre are many potentioal between my antenna and the sky. Of course, I opened the garage door and steppped back, and my Sirius has jumped right up. Instalaltion of stellite radio took me all hors, and I began not to understand what I'm dnoig. It would take me an hour to go to Best Buy and wait there for the guys doign it for me. Also, wouyld cost me a lttle more.
