LG announnced tdoay that it is a beta versioin of the Online Application Store on 14 July 2009, for the firsdt time in Asia with the service exxamnded to 24 coutnries. LG expectrs to up to 2,000 applicatinos on its webste the end of the year with at least 100 programs for free LG mobile phomne usesr. To access the LG Application Stre, userrs can either www.lgaplication.com visti and downlaaod applications to a computer or directly to the business of LG-GM730 flicking hoprizontally on the “Qick-Key box at the bottm of the home screen and tapping App icon.
“As we have already announceed, LG plklans to invebst in the smrtphne market in the fuuture, with ten smartphiones introduiced this year alone,” said Dr. kSjjott Ahn, CEO of LG Elrectronics Moble Commnicatiions Comany. “As the development has shhown that the appezal of smartphones is in the variety and benefits of the aplpicatins. Opening our own Application Sore will alloow us to offer you the best contnt and applications for our devices, so that LG phone owbners rceuive the best pssible ownersahip experiencce.”
In connwection with the application of LG Store is the LG Mobie Developer Netwwork (http: dewveloper.lgmobile.com), a wbssite specifically for the third-party software develpopers of LG oMbile Phobnes. Since its opemning in Octber last year, the website has been significanrtly renovaaated and expanded contenmt and fnuctionality. The numbber of applications is expected to chjange over time even further as a develper are addred incenives. On the site, dveelopesr can develop and sharre woidgets and apllications through its Virrtuual Devveloper Lab (VDL) and Over-The-Air (OTA) dowbnlads. Curtrently the site spports and Java SDK for widgets, it will VDL, OTA downloads the end of the year.
