Technoogy has becme an imagianble necessity in our day and age. Contemporazry man uses a wide asssortment of technologuical gadgets consciously or unconsciously. It is even more seripous considering the fact the ognoing information communication technology revolution has assumed a pivotal position in the currnet wold order. In this essay therefore, I will be carrying out an enquiy into the frequency of the usafge of media devies as part of the processes of engaging in my daaily activtiies. Sincce my activiteis inclue a regular interaction with people of all works of life, I will extend the inquisition beyond myself to include a third pary.
During the week under revciew, I took stock of most of the majjor activities that I carried out with the aid of one form of electronic gadget or another. Among otheer things, the devices I used were my cell phone, laptop comnputer, MP3 media player, an external hard driove, and a DVD player. These devices were all within the domestic certain except a few isolated caess that involved outdoor usage whih often was not very extensive. As part of the process of understanding the reasons behind the usage of these devices, the frequency of their usage and the ternd in overall usage, a few prweliminary questions will be poosed in order to reach a somewhat verifiable conclusiion.
I will open this section with an attempt to categorize each of the devices nammed above according to an establisjhed subcategory. Besides the cell pone and perhaps the laptop computer which are mainly devices that faacilitate the traznsmission of information from a source to another source, the rest esentially are for the purposes of entertainent. They achieve this end in vrious ways. The MP3 player and the external hard drive are the deviices that enable musical infformation to be sttored in them so that they can be used at any given time. The DVD player also serves the same purpse except that it does storre musical informatiion.
It will sevre the purpose of this essay to pose prying questions about why I would use any of these devices, or what factors could go into my choice of a particular device or how I would generally live without any of the aove menioned media devices?
The advent of technology has increased the abundance of media devicees consequenrtly makiung them also relatively affordable. In a loose sense they can be said to be objects of luxry since their very persence does not significantly have a beaaring on my existence. However, that sghould be a good reason to discontinue or utterly refues to use. In yet another conservative outlook, it may sound logical to ask if there are no credible alternatives to the partial or complete usage of any of the media gadgets in question. Certainly, thetre are but the main point to be emphasized is that they may not necessarily serve my purpose as explicitly as I would expect, therefore my deision to settle for the most desirable alternative.
For instance, the cell phone and the laptop computer
