There are quite a few ways to market a product online, such as banners, PPC, cost of action, etc. You should just choose which one is right for you. AdWords falls in the pay per click advertising category and is a leader in this industry. There are more than a couple PPC companies in the world, but none of can do what Adwords can. It's a platform you can advertise on that will give you the extra edge over everyone else and can get you traffic that buys.

Just signing up with Google Adwords won't make you successful, your website must be good enough. If you want to make money using Adwords, your site must be tidied up. Your site must include your terms and conditions section, your privacy policy and it must also have a section where people can get a hold of you. Your home page must link to these types of pages. Make sure your traffic always knows what to do and that there are no links that don't lead anywhere. Basically, if your site isn't working, your ads won't work either.

One other trick of the trade you can utilize is to make various ad groups to be able to quarantine your keywords in your Adwords Campaign. Don't make the mistake of putting your entire keyword list into one ad grouping. You may do this, however, if you have closely related words. In other words, the ad group that you create should be targeted along with your ad and be in sync with your keywords. For instance, if you have a site about recipes and your ad groups are intended to sell recipes, then your ads might include a few examples of these recipes.
