A children's toy known as Pillow Pets have been one of the top selling children's products for 2009 and so far in 2010. In fact so many parents bought them as Christmas gifts for their children this past year, they were sold out in many stores and online as well.
What really makes these kid's toys so special? At first look , it looks similar to any regular cute stuffed animal to parents. But, the special feature about Pillow Pets is they are able to pop open into full sized pillows that kids can utilize to relax or snooze on. This is why the toy is named a Pillow Pet.
This is done with Velcro straps. Whenever you unattach the Velcro fastening, the Pillow Pet will automatically pop open and turn into a pillow. To return it back into a soft toy again, you just reconnect the Velcro fastening.
With this dual function and a commercial that has a memorable song, a lot of children have asked their moms and dads for one. I've heard of many parents becoming bothered because their children were singing the Pillow Pets song that goes, "It's a pillow. It's a pet. It's a Pillow Pet." all the time.
A mother of two children in San Diego was the original creator of the Pillow Pets. The main reason was that she was tired of her children leaving their stuffed animals all around their rooms and house. So she was determined she was going to make a stuffed animal that was also a function item. She later came up with the concept that it will be a pillow.
Because of this, she ended up setting up a millionaire dollar industry and Pillow Pets are being sold in merchants nationwide. The initial product line only had six various animals but has now grown to over 30 different Pillow Pets. Furthermore, complementary products like backpacks, blankets, slippers and even storybooks were started as a result of success.
Pillow Pets is available in 2 different dimensions. The large sized ones are eighteen inches wide while the little ones are eleven inches. The big Pillow Pets usually sell for approximately $20 dollars but the rare ones that tend to be sold out have selling for much more on sites like eBay.
