Freedom's Door is in Kelowna offering Hope, Healing and Wholeness for Men with Addictions.

Freedom's Door is a non-profit registered society that uses the Twelve Step program and Christian principles to rehabilitate men struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction in the Okanagan Valley and Kelowna, BC area.

The Freedom's Door program gives men the strength and faith they need to overcome their addictions and enables them to find a stable, fulfilling future as positive, contributing members of society.
During the program, participants live in one of the four safe, clean, encouraging homes operated by Freedom's Door.

Their quest is to help addicts find freedom under God to grow in His likeness and image.

What is the Freedom's Door Recovery Program?

Their program is built around three phases of Drug and Addiction Recovery. During each phase, participants live in one of the four homes which Freedom's Door owns and operates that allows them to house up to 30 men who are participating in their program. Their homes offer a clean, safe, nonjudgmental, supportive environment for men seeking recovery. The facilities are operated by people in recovery, under the care and leading of God and the guidance of the Freedom's Door society. Their doors are always open to any man seeking a new way of life, and they welcome the men into their homes with open hearts.

The first phase of the recovery program is "Understanding the Problem", and in the first four to six weeks of the program is a grounding phase which participants are encouraged and stabilized physically and mentally. They begin working through the Twelve Step program and learn to recognize the powerlessness and unmanageability of their lives and their need for God.

During this phase, men are also evaluated for special needs counselling for anger management, grief, mood and mental disorders, and life skills training.

The second phase of the recovery program is "Learning Life Skills", and in the next 8 to 12 weeks, as participants continue working through the Twelve Steps, they are introduced to programs such as daily group therapy and one-on-one counselling. Usually 6 to 12 weeks long, these programs are specifically tailored to individual needs. Participation in multiple programs may be necessary to achieve success in the recovery process.

The third phase of the recovery program is "Building on the Foundation", an ongoing reintegration phase designed for men who are ready to re-enter society's mainstream. During this phase, counsellors at Freedom's Door help the men access community resources to enhance their educational and career opportunities and encourage them to develop and use a support group of their own. Ongoing group and individual counselling are also available through this long term support phase.

Addiction is not a hopeless condition from which there is no recovery. Freedom's Door believe that an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live.

If you need help in your battle with addiction, contact them at Freedom's Door.

Freedom's Door is funded primarily by private donations. They need your support to help free men from their addictions.

If you would like to support their program through a financial contribution you can donate now by mailing your cheque payable to Freedom's Door at Freedom's Door, 1279 Centennial Cres., Kelowna, BC V1Y 6K3. Or Visit their Website at http://www.freedomsdoorkelowna.com/support.htm
