Often tagged as the bloodiest battle in American history, the Civil War was a four-year battle of rights, independence, power and freedom. Fought between years 1861 to 1865, the American Civil War was spurred by the tensions and conflicts originating from the North and South America. It was also known as the “War Between the States,” where each state stood forth with what they believed were just and right. With everyone thinking this way, the birth of a battle so deep and so tragic had commenced.

The start of the war was triggered by the secession of eleven Southern slave states from the United States. These eleven states who declared their separation was called the Confederate States of America or “the Confederacy.” The United States was termed as the “Union.” Basically, these two opposing parties were the main casts in the American Civil War.
Following Abraham Lincoln's election to the presidential seat, he campaigned against the expansion of slavery. With Lincoln's stand against slavery, seven states declared their separation from the “Union.” Secession was considered rebellion by both administration of the outgoing President Buchanan and the incoming President Lincoln. Still, these factions remained in the political and societal parties in the United States. In this battle, the Union was unsurprisingly greater in number than the Confederacy. The Union had 2,100,000 members while the Confederacy had 1,064,000. Some of the commanders involved in this struggle were Abraham Lincoln, Winfield Scott, and Ulysses Grant for the Union and Jefferson Davis, Robert Lee and Stephen Mallory for the Confederacy. Casualties in the side of the Union included 360,000 total dead and 275,200 wounded while in the Confederacy 260,000 were declared dead and 137,000 wounded. In the end, the Union was the victor but the reasons and causes of the Civil War also spurred the change in the United States.

As with any war, weaponry has an invaluable contribution. During the American Civil War, a variety of arms and weapons have been displayed and showcased. Intricate details on pistols, revolvers, rifles, and black powder guns are evident in civil war weaponry. Swords, cannons and knives were also used during the battle.

Aside from weapons, there were also other tools like civil war maps, soldier uniforms, hats, war letter openers and other items. These treasures are all engraved in history, symbolizing the glory and tragedy of the Civil War. The Civil War will forever live in the presence of civil war collectibles. Do not forget about your past America. Get some civil war collectibles to commemorate this event.
