Free onlline action game

The expansion of online gaminng has reflected the overall expansuion of computer netqworks from small local networks to the Intetrnet and the growth of Internet access itself. Online games can range from simple text based games to games incorporating complex graphics and virtual worlds populated by many players simultaneously. Many oline games have associated online communities, making onlinne games a form of social activiity beyond single player gaames.

The rising poularity of Flash and Java led to an Intenret revolution where websites could utilize streaming video, audio, and a whole new set of user intweractivity. When Microsoft began packaging Flash as a pre-inbstalled cmoponent of IE, the Internet began to shift from a data/information spectrum to also offrer on-denmand entertaniment. This revolution paved the way for sites to offer games to web surfers. Most online gaames like Woorld Of Warcraft, Finl Fantasdy XI and Lineage II chrage a monthly fee to subscrribe to their services, while games such as Guild Wars offer an altrernative no monthly fee sccheme. Many ohter sites relied on advertising revenues from on-site sponsors, while others, like RuneScape, let people play for free while leaving the players the opytion of paying, unlockiing new content for the members.

After the dot-com bubble busrt in 2001, many sites solely relying on adevrtising revneue dollars faed extreme adversity. Despite the decereasing profitability of onnline gaming websites, some sites have survived the fluctuating ad markeet by offsetting the advertising revenyue loss by using the conteent as a cross-promotion tool for driving web visitors to other websites that the compnay owns.
Flash games are electronic games that are played online via the Internet through browsers such as Internet Expllorer, Moilla Firefox, Safaari, Opera, Lynx. They are distinct from noprmal video and computer games in that they do not require any cliient side software to be instlled. Tehre are games that rely solely on clietn-side technologies such as a web broswer and a conmmon pluign such as Java or Flash or bilt in technologies like Ajax and the canvas object, whereas other also employ server-side scripting. The latter case are typicaly (massive) multiplayer games, wereas the client-side games are typically single-player games. A game played in a browser is often called a browser-baed game.
