In Internet marketing today, there are many business models that will work and can very well become extremely profitable. However, before jumping into the online business market, you must be sure the niche you are intending to market to has the potential for additional revenue streams. .
One of the big points to look at is the fact that if you do not have some type of residual continuity program in place, you do not have a business. That is, some sort of revenue stream that keeps an almost constant stream of money coming in, like a membership program that has members paying a certain amount every month.
Your continuity program acts as the lifeblood of your business and it is what makes it possible for you to take time off and continue to make money in your business. Many online companies use as their main continuity program a print newsletter and DVD of the month. The income from the newsletter and DVD covers all of their company's fixed costs, employee and operating costs and still gives a nice profit to work from. Anything else they sell each month is just cash in the bank.
If you cannot develop a continuity program in the market you are looking to get into, then DON'T get into it!
One of the main things to look at when deciding on a particular niche is how deep the pockets are of the members of that niche. There are larger fish in a deep lake than a shallow one.
If you are only able to sell $27 to $97 products to this market then you are going to have to sell a LOT of products to make real money. If this market would handle $500 to $10,000+ payments, then you can work a lot less, and make millions more.
Look at the other successful businesses in that niche, and look to see what and where their backend is. With some online businesses, they have tons of front end products that range from $7.95 all the way up to $497, but ALL of these products have one main goal - to lead people to the business's backend programs.
With many Internet marketing businesses, they have three main backend programs that they focus on; one-on-one coaching and workshops, selling for $3,500 to $6,500; done for you website and traffic programs, selling for $5,000 to $10,000; and a licensing program that allows other marketers to resell the business's products and services for $35,000 to $50,000 and up.
How deep is the lake you are fishing in? If there is not a deep backend, you are going to find yourself wondering why you got into this market a year or two down the road.
If you are out to attract prospective customers and develop your online presence and exposure, you owe it to yourself and the financial future of your business to learn everything you can about Internet marketing.
