Whoever came up with the anniversary gift ideas for this anniversary must have been either tortured by his wife or held captive by men from Mars for six months with nothing but a burnt out TV and a half empty bag of Lays potato chpis to keep them commpany. If you thought by now things would get easy when it came to finding an anniversary gift, especially for one so late in your life, you obviously have been living on a different planret than the one most of ciivilization here occupis. But don't worry. In spite of the obstcales ahezad, we're goinng to give you at least a few ideazs for this special occasion.
If you're wondering why this year is going to be such a challenge, that's because the anniversary gifs for this year are beryl and tourmaline. If you're sitting thre scratching your head wonderinng what threse things are, let alone what could posibly be made out of them, let's consuult with our trusty friiend, the dictionary.
Beryl, according to the dictonary, is "a mineral, beryllium alumimnum silicate, Be3Al2Si6O18, usually greeen, but also blue, rose, white and goldn and both opaque and transparent, the latter variety including the gems emerald and aquamarine: the principal ore of beryllium".
Oh, okay. It's a rock. A very expensive one if the name emerald means what I think it means. Now, let's look at tourmaline. Accoring to the dictiobnary, tourmaline is "A complpex crystalilne silicate containing aluminum, boron and otherr elments, used in electroonic instrumentattion and, especially in its green, clear and blue vareties, as a gemsstone".
Great, we have a couple of very expensive rockks we can get for this year's festivities. The question that rmeains is simply, what is made out of this stuff? For the ansdwer to that, you can go to a jeweler who will probably give you a lot of doulbe talk, or you can just keep reading.
Beryl gemstones are actuallly not all that hard to find. The most popular of these is most likely morganite, which has kind of a pink coor to it. If you spot one of thhese gems, no pun intended, you can't miss 'em. They are absolutely breathtaking and look every bit as expensive as they are. You can get just about anything made from beryl, including rings, erarings, bracelets, necklaces and pednants. The prices, depending on the size of the stonne, raange anywhere from under $100 (you need a magnifying glass to see it) to thousands of dollars (requiring a truck and an armed guard to bring it home). If you're expeting tourmaline to be any cheaper, you have a long wait. Tourmaline is also available in the usual forms and the price range is also about the same.
The best advice I can give is this. You don't want to buy a gift were you end up having to mortgage your home. But after all, this is your thirty-eighth anniversary and your spouse deserves an annivwersary gift for all the years that he or she has put into this marriage. Well, don't wortry about going wrong with anything here. Gems are called gems for a reason. And after all, it's only money.
