When wanting for your motorcycle insurance it's a sensible idea to know which company is writing your insurance policy. If you are researching a broker you'll not apprehend the company they are using when quoting their rates... if you raise them you will notice they more than probably will never tell you, till the deal is done. Therefore, how can you know who you're signing up with for this nice rate? And if there are problems with the motorbike insurance company they have signed you up with you can finish up with No Policy and No Refund!
Let me tell you a little story concerning Farmer Brown...
Motorcycle Insurance & Bike Rallies - When Farmer Brown bought his 2005 Wing, he got low-cost motorcycle insurance through a broker and as a result of it "saved him a bundle" he was happy and he failed to care who the company was. Farmer Brown failed to scan his new policy, since he was so pleased with the money he saved and he didn't know or care who gave him those fine rates. Farmer Brown would rather ride than read. But, there was a problem.
A significant limitation in his bike insurance policy is causing Farmer Brown to alter firms, eventually. You see, he participates in Rallies and will Iron Butt rides. His liability bike insurance isn't any smart if he goes over five hundred miles in twenty four hours in a very rally. And Farmer Brown goes well over 500 miles, therefore he thought he would obtain a waiver from his motorcycle insurance company for the extra coverage he needed. Nope. His broker told him that the motorbike insurance company said his policy solely applies to competition, not touring.
Farmer Brown needs touring, so that's that. They do not supply it. Now Farmer Brown has to start all over and appearance for an additional company that will provide him with the policy that matches his every want or would have provided the waiver for the additional coverage he needed. AND there was no approach to urge a refund for the motorbike insurance he simply bought.
Farmer Brown needs to have fun riding in his Rallies and Iron Butt rides, but no. He is stuck with the policy he bought. If he tours within the Rallies he can have NO coverage for his fun times riding and so risk "loosing a bundle". Farmer Brown has to wait till next year to own fun in his Iron Butt rides. Bummer.
Since most often a bike insurance policy is purchased from a broker and not directly from the motorcycle insurance company, there will be issues with the corporate (underwriter) and you can end up with no policy and no refund! Farmer Brown ended up with no refund and no fun, but at least he does have a policy. Be sure the broker explains the entire process of how it all works with you before racing down this road to urge your motorcycle insurance.
