Part II
It's important to avoid spam filters when you send out emails for marketing purposes. In order to protect their customers from spam or unsolicited messages, email service providers have fairly advanced technology to filter out certain emails. In order to decide whether an email is spam or legitimate, the spam filter uses a points system to rate each email. So if an email gets high level of spam points, then it is considered spam and therefore deleted. The trick is to avoid using words in your subject line or email body that are likely to alert the spam filter, such as "making money," "free," "build wealth," and so forth. If something triggers the spam filter, the recipient may never see that email, even if it's something they asked for. Never try to alter your email marketing campaign, as you risk losing customers. If you're planning to run a newsletter/ezine or just want to send out regular tips to your list, make sure you have everything consistent, the look, the feel and the way you write your content. When everything looks the same, you will begin to brand yourself in your list's heads. On the long run, this strategy can do wonders for your business because your subscribers will start to trust you. What you're showing is that you can help them with their problem and that right there will generate loads of income and a much larger business.
One of the easiest ways to get accused of spamming is to build an email list without having the double opt-in confirmation process in place. The double opt-in process is a two step opt-in in which the user is sent an email, and then that user has to click on a link in the email to confirm that they want to subscribe.
What marketers have done for years is to offer a free report, white paper, or video in exchange for opting in to a marketing list. It's almost always a good idea, and acceptable, to use the word "free" with list building simply because it still works. You can build a list using this method, and it's advisable when you're first starting out. It is also recommended to use double optin because people have to use a valid email address before they can access your free offer. While it's normal for a very small percentage to slip through and not optin after signing up, the double optin is pretty much the industry standard for email marketing. What's more the double optin will act as a line of defense should you ever be accused of spam email marketing. Of course you never want to stop emailing them after the initial giveaway, so you'll continue to engage in relationship marketing and continue to contact them. Creating a solid relationship with trust is the cornerstone of profitable email marketing.
Every email that you send out should have a strong call to action. A call to action is just telling your reader to do something specific whatever that may be. Don't be shy about it, if you have links in your email, then just tell them - "Click Here Now." Also don't be shy about telling them to do it in more than one place in your email copy. You will, though, want to avoid annoying your reader with too many calls to action, probably no more than three times. Any message that you send out without instructions will give you a poor conversion rate. You'll be making a common mistake by assuming readers will take the time to figure out what to do. Always be clear and upfront about what you want your readers to do, the call to action, and then be sure to give them plenty of reasons why - benefits.
One simple way to make your emails more interesting to people is to personalize them. Many email marketers don't communicate with readers in a personal way, so their emails don't have much impact. Doing this is crucial in order to make each of your subscribers feel unique. Relationship building is essential when you have a list, and by personalizing your emails you are helping to do this. How do you personalize your emails? Use their first name wherever necessary, especially in the subject line and the starting of the email. People are more likely to trust an email from someone who writes to them as a friend or associate would. Nothing is more special to a person than their name. You can definitely benefit by doing this, and it will increase the effectiveness of your email campaigns. You have no more potentially profitable asset than your email list, so use it well.
