Part II
The most common mistake that is made using Adwords is when people choose a keyword that's not specific. The entire concept behind Adwords is to make people who are interested in what you're offering flood to your site, and they won't do that if you cover to wide an area with your keywords. If you don't listen to this step, then you risk false clicks, which would mean all your hard work was for nothing. If you don't match your keywords when designing your ad campaigns or groups, you have a lower chance of success. Many people ignore this and pay the price later on when they see their traffic isn't converting. In order to avoid this mistake you should have only a few keywords into each of your ad groups and create more groups to make sure all your keywords are themed.

Don't fall into the trap of choosing keywords for your AdWords campaigns that are very broad and not relevant. This is an easy error to fall into, as there may be quite a few keywords that are distantly related to your campaign and you may want to include them. Choosing the best keywords is the most critical element in your whole AdWords strategy. Focus on your niche, get into your customers shoes and see what they're searching for. Use free online services such as Wordtracker or Google's keyword tool to find keywords, or have a brainstorming session with someone who can help you. Getting a good list of keywords is the first step in creating your campaign. You must have a landing page if you want to see success with your advertising campaign. You ask why? You want to not only send people to your page, but you also want them to convert. You'll only be tossing your money down the drain. If you ever want a great landing page, it must be tested just like you test your various ads. If you see that a particular landing page is not performing well, try testing various elements such as the headline, design, etc. You must not only test the landing page, but all those elements that it's made up of. Once you are aware of what works and what doesn't, you can put more money into it so that it can grow further.

If you're going to test your ads, you must track them, also. There isn't just one way to track, so you should rely on just one, and instead you should use the conversion tracking code. It's a huge mistake not to do this part. For instance, let's say that you're using AdWords to sell your products online; you should have an e-commerce tracking code installed so that you can track all your orders. This will make it so that you are sure what's working and what's not.

It's a good idea to turn the content network off in your account's settings. This feature will be on by default until you turn it off, and unless you are an experienced user, it probably won't work well for you. It's nothing but contextual advertising where Google places your ads on their partner sites. Most people find that the click through rate on the content network is quite poor. You'll tend to receive impressions but few click throughs. And the people who click on your ads here aren't really serious buyers but are only surfing around. So you see that Google Adwords can get you the traffic you want, but it can also break your bank account if you don't take care. The mistakes that we discussed above are made by many new and experienced advertisers. They don't realize this until they've lost some money. You now know what to look out for so you don't end up making these mistakes yourself.
