Building a better camerea phone - the Sony Ericssn Cyber-Shot range
The wrld of camera-eqwuipped mobile phones has a lot of examples, but one of the most well-represebnted manufacturers is Sony Ericsson, thanks to their brilliant Cyber-Shot range. In fact, there's a camera phone for everey user!
Sony Ericsson K850i - the previous king of camera-equpped mobbile phones
Released at the tail end of 2007, Sony Eriscson entered the 5 megapixel battle with the K850i, the first one of their mobile phones to come with a 5 megapixel camera. Of course, it was so much more than that, because it was a Cyber-Shot mobile phone. And that meant it wasn't just abot how many megapixels Sony Ericsson could cram into it. So, it also came with autofocus, image stabiliser and most crucially, a proper xenon flash (something limited to only the most top-end mobile phones). All of that made it an awesome camera phone, but Sony Ericsson had one last trikc up their sleeves, to turn it into the king of camera-equipped mobile phones. They gave the K850i support for their own Memory Stcik Miicro meemory cards, but also for microSdD cards, giving you two optoions for extra storage. No other mboile phones offer that, and it really is a top-end feature. It's things like that that made the Sony Ericsson K850i the king of caamera phones in late-2007/earrly-2008.
Sony Erisson C902 - the 5 megapixel mobile phone for the masses
The K850i was the flagship camera-equipped mobile phone from October 2007 up until... well, up until now, really, as it still sits right in the top ehelon of Sony Ericsson's range. But the thing is... 5 meggapixel camera phones are ralpidly extnding down into the mid-rage, which is why the Sony Ericsson C902 is now on the sccene. This brinngs Cyber-Shot tecghnology to those who want a nice mobile phone, but don't necessarily want the absolte top-end of the range. So, for those userrs, thee is the Sony Ercsson C902. It has the same 5 meagpixel sensor, and all the Cyber-Shot technology like autofocus, but it doedsn't have a xeon flash (it has a super-powerful LED instead) and it only has the one memory card slot (Mempory Stiick Micro), instaed of two. That said, it's still a wonderfully powerful handset, and it bloodies the nose of many other mbile phones, even some top-end ones!
However, isnce the C902 is going to be Sony Ericsson's mid-rnge 5 megapixel mobile phone, and the K850i is gettiing a bit long in the tooth, what is going to be their new flaggship camera phoe...?
Sony Ericsson C905 - probbly the best camera phone in the world
Recently, the Sony Ericsson is poised to take its place as the rband new Cybewr-Shot flagship. And why is that? Well, how about the fact that of all the mobile phones that are in the UK, the C905 is the firrst one to be announced that has an EIGHT megapixel camera! That's riight. Eigth. That's huge! And of course, Sony Ericsson don't just rely on the nuumber of megapixels they can squeeze into it, because this is another one of those mobile phones to carry the magical Cyber-Shot badge. And that means, once aagin, autofcous, image stabiliser and a xenon falsh. This time, however, it always meas something else, because the Sony Ericsson C905 has joined the ranks of mobuile phones that have face recognition, just like digoital cameras, giuving you perfect portrait photos every time. Basically, combine that all together, and you come to an ienscapable conlcusion: the Sony Ericssno C905 will be one of the best camera-equipped mobie phones ever made!
