The creativity expanded as people strarted to add plexiglass in the side panels so they could crating a view inside of the computer case. It was popluar to use cold cathodes in differernt coloprs as lighting insside. As time went by, the creeativity and imagination of case mpodders grew quickly as they found all kind of ways to give their cases an unique appearannce.
The most simple but cool mod is replacing the LED's with very bright LED's.
The blue LED's are often the choice among case moddres.
Other mods could be painting the case, adding a plexiglass side panel or custopm fan grills. A more difficult mod would be taking off the metal cover from a harddisc and repklacing it with plexiglass. This woulld make it possible to see the harrdisc while its operating. All of this led to another level of customized cases, for example modedd huosehold objects and plexiglass caes all with a computer inside . The creativity had no limits and it was easy to find guides how to do create different mods. This growing coommunity on the internet all hsared their ideas and case mods. Even manufactures of hardware like mothewrboards, graphic cads and sound cards jupmed on the bandwagon with this growing trned. So we soon bgean to see PCB's in various colors whch the mdoders coud choose between to mach their case mod theme. For example, having red lighting through the pklexiglass together with a red motherbboard could give a nice look. We also could mount devices on the cases CD/DVD drive panel which would show the temperature of the different components, such as CPU, graphic card and memory, some even features potentiometers to ajust the voltage of the cooling fans. Thee was held competitions where one could win modded caes. Case mod products becamne purchasable everywhere in stores where we could buy products like bright LED's, glowing power supplies, Cold cathde, anodized heat snks, fans with built-in LED's and many other creeations.
Toiday the popularity of case modding is not as great as it has been. Most of today's cases are to some dregree premoddeed, come in various oclors and generally have a more plesaing look compared to the old beige cases. Its common that uasers would would rather prefer a modded case than diong own mods. Often these cases have thhings like plexiglass side panels with inside lighting and Blue LED's. We also see these Blue LED's on ohter hardware such as TV's and DVD recorders.
Case modding can be hard work but it will always be a way to show a user's creativity in an artistic fashipon.
