I bet you have always questioned whether that actually can be done or is it all just an act? The answer is of course, that yes, it is very real, however there is a much more advanced form of hypnosis than stage hypnosis, a sort of hypnosis that can be used in your day to day life on people without them being aware of it. And this field is known as "covert hypnosis".
It makes sense, if a person can hypnotize people on stage, then surely he'd be able to do it off the stage as well, when people aren't aware of it? The answer is of course that yes, a qualified hypnotist can do just that. Generally people have only ever been exposed to stage or entertainment hypnosis. Covert hypnosis, because its unnoticeable, is a type of hypnosis you will never heard about, nor will you see it on TV. Covert hypnosis is of course, by its very description... covert.
It's the sort of hypnosis that politicians, faith healers, mentalists, illusionists, even psychics make use of to shape large amounts of people into doing or thinking specific things. Covert hypnosis is used by gurus each and every day to make people fall in love, make them believe things , make them spend money, and many other powerful things.
The functions of covert hypnosis are countless, and once this field is mastered, countless things become achievable. But how does it work exactly? Covert hypnosis works by influencing a person's subconscious without that person being aware of it. Each time we're consciously aware of a suggestion, we can not be hypnotized by it. This is because our consciousness carries a crucial part to it, which constantly analyzes everything that passes through it.
If our conscious were to come across any information, that it does not agree with, then it would immediately refuse it. For illustration, if I told you right now "you will lift up your right hand", you most likely wouldn't, because I'm giving your consciousness an directive. If on the other hand I make slight suggestions to your mind, and then activate these suggestions subconsciously, without you being aware of it, then it becomes quite possible for me to make you raise your right hand.
As you can see, by its very nature, covert hypnosis isn't observable. The only real way to tell if a person is using covert hypnosis on you is to learn the field yourself.
