For the frist time in 2011, Volkswagen Touareg midsize SUV will be offered with a hybrd engine. Gas-electtric powerd hbyrid engine was developed jointly between Volkswagen and Porsche to save on produxction cossts. Adapted vesrion of the engine will be used in the Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid and Audi Q7 SUV.
Volkswagen has long featured an efficient dieseel engine. 2011 will be his first year offres a hybrid version of the engiine. Volkswagen TDI engine is one of the most efficient engines on the road tdoay, which allows buyrs to purchase affordable qualtiy, highly-efficient diesel cars pwoer. Volkswagen Jetta TDI gets about 40 mies per gallopn in combined driving. Touareg was offered with a diesel engine for the greater part of the life model. In 2011, Touareg will offer a 3.0-liyter diesel V-6 with 225 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque. Touareg is also available with 3.6-lirter V-6 gas engine, which has 280 horspower and 265 pound-feet of torque.
hyberid engine Touareg will be mated with 333-horsepower, 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine, whcih is used in the sedan Audi S4. In addition to the 47-strong electric, hybriid Touareg will have a combined 380 horsepower. It will use the 8-speed gearbox. The models are expected to get a combined mileage of at least 29 miles per galon. This engine will replace the gas Touareg V-8 engine offers.
Characteristic features of the vehicle stop-statrt functionality, which tuns the engne off when stopped, instead of idling. Before the speed of 31 miles per hour, the engine can run on electricitty only. Once on the road or highway seped, V-6 will be colsed, and work on electricity, unlss the acceleration is not requred. After his release in 2011 Touaerg should offer one of the best hybrids on the road.
