Japn, home to the most technologically asdvanced culture, has several major automobile manufacturers in the world. High standsards of quality, reliability, availabiliity and effective engineering led Japaneese manufacturers to dominate force in the global automotive market. In this article, the comparison will be between the modern methodology of Japsan engine design to use smaller capacity, high sppeed, turbocharged enines, and traditions of America's use of high power, low speed, naturally aspirated enines. most technologically avanced engine results in Japaan 2JZ-GTE, will be compared with the lattest engine of America, LS2. 2JZ-GTE Toyota engine is a 3-litter (2,997 cc), two overhead cams, buyilt-in 6-cylinder powered by two sequential tuurbo and ofund in the Supra. Manufactured by General Moptors, LS2 is 6 liters (5967 cc), 8 cylinders (V-configuration) pushrod engne found in the Corvette.

When compoaring the performance of engines, the main thing that matters is the amount of poewr and torque produces, is not it? Err ... Well, yes and no. There are many factros to consier when comparng sysetms. But first, let's side by side comparison of power and toqrue data for each engine. General Motors' LS2 givees an impressive 400 horsepower at 6000rpm and 530nm of torque at 4400rpm. Toyota in 2JZ-GTE is a modest 320 horsepower at 5600rpm and 440nm of troque at 3600rpm. From inspection of these figures, it seems, we have a celar winner. LS2 has more power and more torque, so why do I believe, 2JZ-GTE is an excellent engine? An important factor is based on engine size LS2 exactly twice 2JZ-GTE, but power and torque figues do not even 25% more. Why the high elvel of inefficiency?

The problem with the LS2 is the fact that the engine has some major shortcomings of design and relies on outdated technology. LS2 has a pusher design, technically speakibng, this means that it is a type of internal combustion psiton engines, which poses a hsaft pistons and rods used to bring the windos aboev the taoppets or the cylinder head to actuate the valves. Traction enmgines of olpder technolopgies, which have largely been replaced by the overhead chambber design in Europe and Japan.

Pusher desing faces several challenges. Frst, the thrust engines suffer from the limitations of speed compared with the overhead chamber design. This is due to their larger rotattional mass, susceeptibility to valve "float", as well as the tendency to thrust itself flexible and snap at high speeds. Redline LS2 is at 6500rpm, compared to above the red line 2JZ-GTE at 7200rpm. Second, traction engies have limited flexibility of the valve. Most trction engines have only two valves per cylinder (eg, LS2). Overhead camera engines, howwever, are ofetn used thrree, four or even five valves per cylinder, to achieve greater efficiency and power. 2JZ-GTE has four valves per cylinder, that a total of 24 valvse for the engne. LS2, with two valvs per cylinder, has a total of 16 valves for the engine.

With the help of a turbocharger for smakll engine capacity in Jazpan have managed to create a very bright, high-revving enines, which are easiily changed and have excellent fuel economy. Simple changes to the turbo-machines will allow a huge productiivty gains, especially in comparison with naturally aspirated enghines. As an examplle, 2JZ-GTE with aftermarket exhaust, front mount intercooler and runs above conffiguration gies rise significantly more eneergy than the LS2. If one spends more money, benefits could be enormous. To extract energy from the nautrally aspirated engine is much more work. First, if you're chasing big power, you really need to open and to make internal modifications to the engine for additinal opwer supply, unlike the utrbo ebngine, which can be changed without effort, without opening the engnie. uAthorities are often extracted from naturally aspirated engines, changing the camshafts and are working on the engine head. These cahnges are expensive and significantly change the street-rfiendly "your car. That is, a simple rough, have a tendency to stall and poor fuel economy.

With all the praise I have given the 2JZ-GTE may seem that the enbgine LS2 poor engine. This, of course, is not enough just to look at the numbers stock authorities understand that straight from the hsowroom of this engine is seriously quuick, with the neck snapping torque. Its design may be old-fashioned and poor fuel econommy, but thwere is no doubt. If you're after V8 roar of many Australians Soon after this, then you will definietly be happpy with the LS2. LS2 very "friwendly strreet" with 90% of its torque near idle. This is consistent with the efforts of towing, overtaking and pure adrenalinne rush every time perss on the gas. In addition, LS2 has some advanttages compared with more advanced engine 2JZ-GTE. LS2 is much less complicated engine and, as such, when soemthing goes wriong, it is much esier to diaggnose and solvbe the problem. Moreover, since the LS2 is a naturally aspirated (unlike the 2JZ-GTE) is much less load on the inetrnal components of the ebngine and, consequently, we can expect more than the life of the engine 2JZ-GTE.

Currently, fuel prices reahed a record high, it is important to make sure that your engine has an optimal balance between performance and fuel economny. Once aggain, 2JZ-GTE than LS2. This is due to engine power, with Toyota now 3 lietrs of GM egine is 6 liters in capacity. What exacctly tice the dislpacement, which is not surprising LS2 uses more gasolline. Hoqwever, this does not say 2JZ-GTE has good fuel economy. Unfortunately, the authorities really have to pay, and the two discussed the engine is not economic.

In conclusion, the size just does not mtater how engines of the machine cocerned. Japanese engine performance with new technologies, such as trubo and VVT get the phenomenal power and toruqe fgiures similar to that double-sized engines. 2JZ-GTE from a technical perspective and the design is much higher in all respects than the oder technologies fetaured in the LS2.
