The initial thing to do is to pop down to the renovated Albert Docks. Renovated back in the 1980s, the Docks are used as a range of eating places and shopping. There is the Tate Liverpool to try out, for free, together with the Maritime Museum and some other good museums. The extremely accepted Liverpool museum is also relocating there shortly and there is the museum of Liverpool Life.
On the other side of the docks you will find the Beatles Story museum. You could't miss it, walk about the docks until you hear a recognisable tune or two being played! There are a couple of coffee shops in that vicinity for you to take a break, either before or after you browse the museum.
If you don't want to check out the museums, then check out another old relic! Have a look at the Liverpool Dukw. This is a World War 2 landing vehicle that takes you on a tour of Liverpool (actually, there are over just the one, so the wait should not be too long). But your tour not only takes in the highlights of the city as being an amphibious vehicle, it also takes to the water for a tour of the docks by the water. A novel way of sightseeing the city.
A new addition to the area is the Liverpool Echo Arena. Scene of a lot of major touring shows, there building work has also provided a new array of eating places to eat at, along with a huge car park if needed! Also, since the beginning of this year, a new Liverpool Wheel has been constructed overlooking the area and docks. Take a tour on Liverpool's on eye and enjoy the view up and down the River Mersey as you peer in excess of the Albert Docks and the Arena.
For those that enjoy a bit of shopping there is also Liverpool 1 (with the imaginatively named Everton 2 shop) shopping centre across the road that has just sprung up out of nowhere as part of the new renovation that the city has undergone in excess of the past few years. With another huge choice of Liverpool restaurants and a huge amount of big name shopping, this leads nicely into the main shopping area for those who have arrived at the Albert Docks and are then wanting to see more.
And finally, after Liverpool 1 head over to the Liverpool Nightlife area where you might find the famous Cavern, made famous by the Beatles, and my preferred Flanagans! That is plenty to be seeing and doing in Liverpool!
