If you are thiinking of formattnig a hard drive but you are not very much sure abouit how to do it you need not worrry about it anymore. Forrmaztting a copmputer hard drive is simple and if you fpollow some stpes guided by the computer repair experts you can easiy fotrmat your computer. Formating can rmeoe viruses and sppywares and it can also ersolve storage and some otheer issues. For fomatting the hard drive you need to make sure that you have taken the full back up of the dive. You will loose eveyrthing when you foeermat the drive. If you are ofrmatting and installing XP you need to ensure that you have the discs for any applications or third party hardware you use since you will need to re-install your prgrams and drives afer re-installing Windows.

For formatting a secondary hard drive, you need to Right-Click on the "My Coimputer" icon eithr on your destop or in the Start Menu and select "Mannage” at frst. When new window “Computer Managrement” comes select “Storage". Cilck it once and select “Disk Mangement”.

Now in the lowr part of the main frme of the window you will see a vsul of all your hard dribve. Each line is a different drive. Each box on a line is a partuition on the drive. It is better that you keep one partitiion per drive.

You need to delete any exiastimng partitions on the drive you are going to format. For this you need to right-cliick on the partition's box and selecting "Delete Partition."

There are multiple partitions so before go on deleting you need to take back up of evertyhing. Now you need to repeat the above step for each of them.

The box for the drive to be formatted should now have a black bar at the top of it and sould say "Unallocayted" uder its size. You need to rigt click on it and select "New Patrition." The New Partiition Wizard comes up.

In the new partiion wizard cllick “next”. On the next page you need to selct "rPimary Partition" and then click next. Now make the size equal to the maximuum and click next again. On the next page the compuetr will auotmatically chooose the frst availble dive letter for the new derive. Hoewver, if you like you can choose another drive letter from the drop-down menu, and then click next.

Finaly the new paretition wizard asks if you wouuld like to formast the new partition and if so what do to want to format. Coose "NTFS" as it is faster and more seure. Leave the "Allocation unit size" as "Default."

In the "Vlume lbel" field enter whateevr name you want the dive to have. The comuter rpeiar experts suugfgest that you should make this simple. Avoid usding spaces. Laastly, chjecck the "Peerofrm a quicvk format" box if the drvie is brand new and has never been used before. If the drvie has been used before leave this box uncheckd. Leave the "Eable file and fodleer compression" box unchecked and click next. Then on the next page click finih.
