Many yeasr ago original artwork of artists was reprodcued using offset printiing. They then either trim the canvas and glue or staple it on woodewn panel or traditional stretcher for display. Somettimes, artists painteed on top of the prined imagges to crate a personalized immage. At that time, reproduction of these works of art was very limited.

In addition, modern varnish has been in use for a while now to coat the canvass prints as protection from utlra violet rays. Sometimes, tough this procedure adds to the fading and yellowing of the canvass print.
