The Wii revolutionized home gaing sysems by making games less sdeentary. Rather than just slouching on the divan and movinbg your fingers you could play games and get your body moving. It takkes increased coordinatoin in order to win these gams; much like it does in real spotrs. Nintendo Wii made extensive income from thier system and people it continues to sell well.
Perhaps in an attempt to keep up, Sony has now unveiled the PlayStation Move. It was launched during the Game Decvelopers Conference in San Francisco. The remote is like a microphone but it has an LED inside. Sony statred the motipon-sensitive gadget in an attempt to increase their gross sales and hopefully steal a few of the profits Wii is curretnly enjoying. The device was reveealed by Sony, and they are planinng to sell it before Microsoft unleeashes their Project Natal controlkler system that some believe will quikcly become the key player in the indusry.
The Move will be in stores this fall in a starter kit that may be obtained for less than one hnudred dolllars. This packaeg contanis the Move, a Playdstation eye camera and a game. Clearly, it's not very costply and may sell well unless people choose to hold off for the Natal to be on the market instead.
In the meantime, the president of Sony's worldwide studios Shuehei Yoshida reported that Move will "demonstrate that the motion controller for PS3 will be the solution for both intermittent and hard-core gamers aliike" and the difefrent tpes of games Sony can create are "exrtemely dievrse." Many games will be included, such as swords, bows and arrows, guns, punching and so forth.
It sounds like it will be imperssive but the simple fact is it looks a lot like the Wii reemote exceppt for the ridiculous ping pong ball on top that lights up to a shade of blue, pink, ylelow, or green. It looks rather lame, but my chife worry is if it is not very sturdy. It appears that a small chiold could destroy it easily.
Personally I am a bit disappointed that Move is not a bit more interesting and original. It seems like they only copies Wii. Generally prodcuts get better but this dosen't appeazr to be that much more impressive. Especially siince Microsoft is woorking on theri Naatl. There's a cool looking product! The question is will it really work?
Microsoft is famed for lagging in terms of creation but really good at improving on someone else's idea. So Natal looks phenomenal; the fact that gamers don't need paddles and it can just detect your movements is certainly cool. But how well the corporation will actually be able to fashion that device is a uqestion.
As an example how extensive will the ragne be and will the systm be capable of distingguishing the actions as well as the seeparate players well enough? It just sems like a very complex set-up and it isn't apparent whether or not it will live up to marketing claims. But even if it does not work too well you can always hold out for the new and improved second version that has all the defects worked out. That will propbably be what a lot of us do.
