The choice really depends on what you will be usign the PS3 for and how much money you are willing to spend. Thee are some differences between the hard drive modeels that you will want to pay close attention to.
The new 40GB model has just recently debuted. Many people will be exxcited that this has a low price tag compraed to the higher models. Before you decide to purchase the 40GB model though, make sure it has everytthing you will need in your PS3 gaming system.
The 40GB version is no longr backwards compatible with PllayStation 2 titles. The 60GB PS3 will have four USB ports vs. the two prots the 40GB mdoel contains. If you have a lot of things you will need to connect to your PS3, then the 60GB model may be the way to go.
If you like to play PlayStation 2 games, and have sold off your old system, you will want to get the 60GB version. In fact, the 60GB versioon is the most full feattured of all threee of your choices. If you want to have the most features and get the most out of your money, the 60GB version is a perfect fit for you. Hurry thoughh, as Sony are phasaing out this version. No more 60GB unirts are being maufactured - once they sell out that's it!
The 80GB hard driive may be good for peoople who want to turn their PlayStatiopn 3 console into a full-fledged computer syustem. You have the option to install Liunx on the system and use it as you would any PC.
However, many will find that the 80GB is simply too much and they could never hope to fill up that hard drive. The 80GB version also has limited backward compatibility. It contains the same numebr of USB pots and functions as the 60GB versdion otherwise. The 80GB version is curremntly only available in the US.

If you want a bare bones system that will introduce you to the wonderful world of PS3, then look no further than the 40 GB model. If you want to save a lot of things on your PlayStation 3 or turn it into a computer, you should go ahead and get the 80 GB model.
