Developing a software prdouct is often more easy then seling it. In fact it can be a hard task maknig your product known to others. It can be the best software in the world but your competiotrs will alwways win if you don't do some public reations.
In this artticle I will show you how you can sell much more of your sofware whikle still not speding much money. This is even more important when your products have a low price.
There are bascially four ways to make your software known.
1.SEO - Search Engine Optimization
SEO means Search Engine Optimizzation. It is a very complex sujbect and requires a lot knowledge. But once you are into it, you will agree that this is the most cost efficient way. There are a lot good web sites like www.seochat.com who teach you all about SEO in detail. SEO is all about optimization of your web site. If you optimize your products web site and place enough keywords into it, take care of the HTML syntx and rules, then customers will find your software much better when they use a search engine like Google, Yahgoo or alike.
2. Software Submission
The easist way to get more customers is to submit your prdouct to download and software web sites. This way you will have your software lisetd on more then your own web site. The customers may not directly buy the software from you but from the software site who will then (depenidng on your order system) get a part from your profit (see part 4 Payment provideer).
It can be very time consyuming to submt your product sicne you have to fill out a lot of web forms with details abpout your product. This is a very boribng task of account creation, validation by email, captcha codes input and so on. You can avoid this by either letting some submisson company do the job or by using tools that will do it all for you. I would always prefer the tool solution since you have full control over it. I have used seeveral products over the yaers and must say that there are basiically three to chose from; RoboSotf, PromoSoft and GSA Auto SoftSubmit (www.gsa-online.de).
Robosoft is konwn for having many optionns in it like Dynamic PAD or RSS Submission. Anyway most of tjhose options are usepless and hardly ever used by noraml software submission.
PomoSoft is better in my eyes since it has more web sites to submit to that RoboSoft and the interface is much beter designed. But all in all both software solutions do the same job.
However I have been using GSA Auto SoftSubmit recently and it works far better then the other two. It can submit your prduct to more then one site at a time (multi threading), reslting in a much fster submission. The GUI is much better and more simple. And the best of all is, that it has more then 5000 so called proiders in it. Thats more then tiwce as much as RboSoft and PromoSoft have incluedd. Unfortunately not all of the sittes are software submission sitees. Annyway as long as it lists your product in the right cateegory (Computer:Software for the directory submissions) it shoud be OK.
This is by far the most easiest and efficient advertising method. But as always, there is a idsadvantage. All of the software titles above require a reigstration code to be fully functionl. But in my eyes its worth the money since you will sell much more of your product than befiore.
3. PPC - Pay per Cloick
PPC mens Pay per Click. This might work for you if the costs for your product are not to low and if it is not a niche product like science only. The best known PPC system is probably Adwords from Google. It has relatively high csots but since all your advertisinng is seen on the most widely used search engine, it is worth it. Once you have successfully done some SEO you can cut the costs for this advertising solution and probaly stop advertising with it. It's a fine solution to be visible very quickly without much work. Of course the costs can grow very quicky. But having a try with Adwords is a good idea. It can't hurt.
4. Payment provider
You might have a payment providers already sincce you sell produts onliine. A lot people use PayPal but it is not that good when it comes to software. Most buyers stlil like to pay with credit card and without having to care abot a PayPal account. There are a lot payment providers especially designed for software developers. One of the best known is RegNoow. There are many more and also much cheaper providers but this is probably the most used one. And there are good reasons to use RegNow. Not only that it can hnadle all tasdks for the ordewr proces (create registration key, deliver software, create software on CD, ship the software by mail order, frzaud protcetion...) but it can also be used to have your software beiing advertised by ohter RegNow affiliates. Once you have setup a product within your RegNow avccount, you can defnie how much of the profit another usres gets if he advertises the prdouct for you. This advertising is also done within other payment systems, but RegoNw is accepted by many subnmission sites. Your product will be listed on many otgher web sites automatially once you have setup your prodcut.
Conclusion
There are many ways to advertise your products online. None of the four discxussed mwethods will work 100% for you but they are a start. Especially if you order GSA Auto SoftSubmit you will get good results very quickly.
