Selecting a guitar can be a daunting prospect, especially if you are looking to purchase for the very first time.

Is there truly a best beginner guitar?

Very first you have to decide What Kind of Guitar you want to learn.

Do you would like to perform Acoustic Guitar?

Understand Electrical Guitar?

or play Bass Guitar?

These questions can be answered by searching at the kind of music you would like to play on your guitar.

I'm taking a wild guess but I suspect that most of you out there want to play either the electric bass or the electric guitar. Hopefully a few of you'll choose the acoustic guitar, as I believe it's a stunning instrument that deserves to be more widely played. It is also a great instrument to begin beginners on, as no matter how loud you perform an acoustic guitar the neighbours aren't going to ask you to MOVE!!:)

How Old Do You Need to Be to Start the Guitar?

You can start your kid pretty early on the guitar as you're able to get 1/2 scale (that's half the size of a normal guitar) (up to 6 many years) or 3/4 scale guitars (up to 10-12 years).

Just keep in mind that if they're starting very young (5-8 years old) they'll need to start on an acoustic with nylon strings. You truly don't want your young kid to come to you with bleeding hands from actively playing on metal strings!

Costs?

For an acoustic guitar you're looking at $80- upwards

For an electric guitar it's from $120 - upwards

For an electrical bass it's around $120 - upwards

When you're searching to purchase any kind of guitar you will find some important facts you have to bear in mind.

1. You need to make sure you're comfortable with the instrument. Most with the time guitars within the store aren't 'set up' correct, meaning how the neck is most likely bent slightly and how the strings are too high or as well low on the fretboard, producing it truly feel uncomfortable to you.

Nevertheless, you could be playing a Great instrument if it's set up correct, so my advice is go to a number of stores and perform the same guitar. If this isn't feasible, and you are seriously considering buying the instrument, tell this to the shop guy and ask him to 'set it up' for you. Most shops will do this, though some might not.

2. Make sure the electronics are all working,

three. How the neck is straight and above all that you truly feel a 'connection' with the guitar.

4. You also have to make certain that you purchase within your cost range, set yourself a limit and do not go over it.

5. I would not advise buying second-hand from eBay without having really seeing and actively playing the instrument.

Strings

Of course all guitars need a set of strings but how often do you need to change them?

Acoustic Guitar

When you change strings is dependent upon how often you play, your actively playing style, your care with the strings, and the effect your hands have about the strings. The short answer to this question is between 15 to 30 hours of play! Here's why: As you perform, the strings will collect dirt and oils from your hands. This causes the strings to become dead and to vibrate unevenly along their length (also causing tuning difficulties). Dirt and oils get into the windings and down inside towards the core of the strings where it can cause corrosion with the core. If your hands are dirty or if your hands perspire whenever you play, this will shorten the string life. Wiping the strings off every time you are finished actively playing will help prolong their life. Also should you bend strings or play difficult this will trigger flat spots about the strings particularly at the fret locations, shortening their life.
